2004 Fabia Estate - juddering front brakes

Featured Replies

Hi, Recently when I have braked harder than normal, there is a real bad juddering from the front brakes which I can feel through the pedals (kind of metallic grinding sensation). Discs & pads look OK to me. Is this normal (ABS kicking in - not even sure if I have ABS!). Thanks.

Sounds like the good old over-sensitive ABS of the fabia kicking in (not a fault, just a trait as far as I am aware)

Presuming the pads aren't worn out, there's still a number of things:-

1) Over eager ABS as above

2) Well-worn front tyres

3) Damage to inside faces of discs (behind dust shields)

4) Warped discs, or pad gunk on disc faces.

Thanks. I'll recheck, but think it is probably ABS as brakes are perfectly OK under normal (ie. driving like an old fart) conditions.
