hello all you lovely skodaowners. I have just recieved a letter from RETAINAGROUP wanting cash and details to register me on the international security register-is this above board:confused: Do you think it's worth it if it is? would appreciate some info.

Skoda and several other car makers use retainagroup to register cars details against owners, so yes its reputable. Wether its worth the money or not though is a different question.

The theory is that a potential new owner, can phone them on the number etched into the windows and verify the owners details against the V5.

I paid the £20 fee for peace of mind really ,its only a one off payment for as long as you have the car

I think its worth it

IMO these registers would only be worth something if they were comprehensive, and they're not.

Total waste of money in my opinion.

Chances of it helping your car be recovered are about bog all , and if mine gets nicked I don't want it back. That's what insurance is for
