Oil change vrs tdi ......advice please

Featured Replies

Evening all,

Just a question or two regarding an oil change fora octy 2 {2.0 tdi}

I have previously owned a ASV engine VAG car and oil filter changes were verystraight foward:D. BUT ... now with the common rail engine, there seems to be a stainless pipe right in the F***in way of the filter.:thumbdwn:

I was chatting to a lad who reckons that the pipe can be removed :eek:in order to manuvour out the spent filter and also create enough room to put the new one in without causing any damage to either new cotton filter or pipe. .

Can anyone give me their opinion if they have experienced this dificulty.

Thanks

Tom:thumbup:

the VRS TDI isn't common rail it's PD where as your ASV was not PD.

You got a picture of the pipe or is it the one that is about 1/4-1/2" wide?

Sry, mistake there when i reffered to the engine as common rail, i must have been daydreaming whilst typing :rotz:(I should proof read my threads really :P) ...

I believe it may be a pipe that recirculates the exhaust gasses. It is approx 1" in diameter and it is of a material that resembles stainless / chrome.. I'm wondering if i removed the two bolts fixing the pipe in place at one end, will i be able to manuvour the pipe away to allow sufficient space to change the filter?..

I've attached a photo (which i should have done in the first place!!)

Cheers,:handshke:
