Is the limiter on my car knackered??

Featured Replies

you will have to bear with me im not very good on cars :) i dont even know if it has one to be honest im sure it does but anyway, ive got a 1.9Tdi Fabia elegance and ive had 130mph out of it no modifications this was redline in gear 5 is this right or ??....... lol im confused, says its only supposed to top out at 115 or so. Also does any1 know where i can get some PD130 Injectors and someone close to Kent who can fit them.

also, i just forked out for new discs and pads, about April 08, all round because my old ones were on the way out. they occassionally squeel when i brake which really really annoys me, took them back to the garage they cleaned the dust off them and they are still squeeling occasionally suggestions??

cheers

:P was only testing it.

i thought the only limits to a fabia where the laws of physics and even then these could be bent ;)

There is no limiter, the only limiting factor will be drag/wind.

yeah 130mph on the speedo

You would be very lucky if you could hit the limiter in 5th, you just couldn't get the car there.

Did you get this work done at a Skoda dealer using genuine VAG parts? My guess is that genuine VAG pads were not used and that these aftermarket pads do not have the required antisqueal parts fitted. I've been there done that and despite people saying "just use copper grease" it only works for a short time. There does not seem to be a substitute for proper pads with antisqueal fitted if required. Next time round (soon) I will be using OEM pads that are fitted with antisqueal if required as per factory fitting (bought already Textar fronts and Pagit rears)

IF anyone has ever taken a look at the torque/power graph for diesel engines, you'll realise you can probably never ever redline in top gear... :D

ok cool cheers for the feedback was great help.

only time ive seen a everyday car get anywhere close to the limiter in 5th was on a rolling road wherw wind resisitance is nil!

even then it didnt have enough guts to get to the limiter, but that was doing a rolling road indicated 173mph! :) gotta love the economy gearboxs on vauxhalls!!

i would agree with whats been said above though, 130mph on the clocks would have been more like 115mph really, the speedo on all cars is out by a safe margin. i do hope that was on a private track though ;)

Good move!! you wouldn't be the first person to be convicted by admitting something like that on the net

totally OT, but I'm sure Mavis pulls all the way to her limiter in 5th

ffs, what a tit!

ffs, what a tit!

Yep, everyone knows the M40 is better for that kinda thing. :D

Get the speedo changed from a kph one to an MPH one would be my suggestion :D

I think saying "the first person to be done for admitting it online....." well that must surely mean it wont happen, i mean what if they were lying to show off?

Innocent till proven guilty, someone boasting I don't think would count imho.

yup, mavis will pull the limiter in 5th :D

and she's pretty much standard(air filter and exhaust are the only mods) :D

A pug one-nine gti will limit in top! only on the standard exhaust though, if you go spending £400 on a magnex 4 branch and system or any other aftermarket it will slow down, ask me how I know.......... :( Stupid cars, I hate cars

I went 500mph on the M4 today

Pah!, try 630 on the ely link road, round the bend, by leckwith, so fast the camera didn't get me, ohh it was rinsin bro!:rofl::rofl:

A yeah but what speed it is doing, iirc Mavis has quite a short box.
