Sat-Nav map upgrades?

Featured Replies

I bought one of those Sony sat-navs about 18 months ago (the ones Sainsburys had in for £99), but I also have an older Garmin.

Both of my sat-navs are now saying that the mapping is out of date, but it seems that I'll have to pay to get new mapping.:( Is this really the case, or am I missing a trick here?

Cheers.:)

Nope, its the same with tomtom and even the oem skoda satnav, if you want the latest maps you need to pay for them.

but if you buy from their site (like tomtom) you might get a bit of discount for already owning their product.

Thats true. the latest UK map straight from tomtom isnt that expensive, even the whole of europe isnt that badly priced.

You mean like the Tom Tom 910? I'm sure there are solutions to that problem too ;)

Issue is it's hard coded in the software.

If you connect it to their home app it rings alarm bells at cloned map and runs to tell them all about you ;)

I beg to differ. ;););)

Very easy to get around if you know where to look.

Dave.

ahem do tell ;) although ive got a tomtom one and i dont think its expensive enough to do that lol!

Interested too now.

There are forums online where "versions" of the navcore software are available..... You need to know what your doing though as if you mess it up you can turn your TomTom into a brick.

I'm running a GO520 at present with the latest Navcore 8 which has the IQ planning and advance lane guidance etc... that the newer GO*30 units have.

My old GO300 was also running the same navcore but a little more slowly.

I'm pretty sure the ONE is capable of running the latest navcore software too.

Cheers

Dave.
