Help Drivers side rattle is driving me MAD!

Featured Replies

Hi Gang

A few days ago my vRS Oct started to devolpe a rattle. Nope not drivers seat or rear seats. Everything is fine glass fits in the frame ok with no play, door is hung proply, shuts fine. The dealership told me to drop the rear seats, but it made no differance.

You can get out and swing the door but nothing, no rattle.........But start to drive and from 2nd gear onwards everything you either go on for off the gas it seems to sqaruk or rattle like the door in lose in the frame or the winow is lose or something is lose in the door. Very anoying, just by your right ear!!!

Anyone had anything like this before?

Cheers

Mike

Get someone else to sit in the car with you if you haven't already. Front and rear. Best I can come up with I'm afraid :(

I had a rattle in the roof right above my head, it wasn't obvious initially that it was the roof. Might be worth a listen.

If the doors are closed hard on some cars, it is possible for the striker plates to move slightly and cause a rattle. I've had to adjust all my previous car's doors. Windows need adjusting sometimes, I'm getting a rattle noise, worse when the window's down. Just trying to find the time, motivation and the inclination to sort it out. Apathy is a bad thing sometimes,

Perhaps the door rubber has dried out, try applying a silicon spray to the rubber seal around the door, then test.

My thanks to all, i noticed that the hoter the day, the worst it got!

My vRS is Black and today its been cold and wet....guess what...No rattle/Squaek.

I suspect that i have a tight tolance on something and its too tight when the car is out all day in hot weather!

Strange!

Will give you posted.

Mike
