I'm Kev, a taxi driver down here on the Isle of Wight, who has a vested interest in one of our cars - a 2002 Octavia 1.9tdi estate ambiente which has done sterling service as a hackney for the last six years.

The majority of those years the Octy has been used as the backup car but has still managed to clock up 175,000 miles without major incident - in fact any of you knowing the Island will vouch for the state of the roads and will know she's had to work hard for that mileage!

The old girl is due for replacement shortly by a Superb and should hopefully be coming my way at a favourable price.

Unable to log in to Skoda Connect via infotainment system

I've just bought a 2021 Skoda Octavia SE L and I'm having some issues setting myself up as a primary user. Specifically, when I try and log in to my Skoda Connect account via the infotainment system it displays "Loading settings..." and then "Sorry, unable to load your settings.". I've tried factory resetting and Wi-Fi and neither of these have worked. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? The car's no longer in warranty, so I'd prefer to avoid a tri

Very confused and apologies if covered elsewhere but can't find it... looking to get a towbar fitted for caravan towing and an independent towbar company is warning about coding and about the rear emergency braking kicking in and not letting me reverse with the caravan in place. Another has said they can fit a towbar but I'd need to take it to a dealer to get it coded. I've contacted my local skoda dealer and they've quoted £1900 for a towbar to be fitted!! Hi wonder if anyone on here can confirm I have the right part number for front springs. PR code in boot is 2UA/L07 and from LLLparts diagrams I get 1K0411105AQ. No paint marks on broken one plus looks like 1x pink,1xorange,1xblue on good one. LLL parts say also marked with 1 x grey and 4x blue which I don't have unless they mean pink,orange,blue or grey blue blue blue blue? Again seems to be quite a few to choose from. DIY ABS warning Fix

Yesterday our Roomster started beeping and flashing the warning light about the ABS. My first thought was to replace the ABS sensors – they are around £7 each and seem to be easy enough to replace by removing the rear wheels. I could also give the connections a bit of a clean at the same time. What are my chances chances of fixing the issue within 45 minutes of DIY work? I don’t have any diagnostic tools, but if this is a common fault with an easy fix it would be great to know what other peo
