Brand new suspension

Featured Replies

Wonder is anyone else has had this problem or am I just being picky?

I took delivery of a brand new Koni STR.T suspension kit today but when the lid was lifted it revealed that all the shocks and the springs had suffered degrees of scratching through the orange and blue paint to the metal underneath. :(

Now aesthetically, I'm not really bothered because the kit's there to do a job under the arches and behind the wheels, but I am a bit miffed that someone seems to have been throwing them about and not taken care to see they don't scratch after I've paid nearly £300 for them. Or, if they've been looked after and still scratched like this, how sh**e must the paint be?

Would anyone here complain and send them back for a new pair or is this just a hazard that I need to accept? I don't suppose it'll affect the quality of the kit, maybe some rusting in the scratched parts??

The boxes weren't damaged and there was a padded layer on top of the kit so it seems to have happened before transit.

What would other Briskodians do?

:wrthless:

just a note: they normally are powder coated rather than painted which is usually highly durable

Id send thatm back coz it would say to me that they beemn hit quite hard.

Straight back no questions asked, Call me anally retentive but when it comes to my car of it aint perfect and right it aint going on!

:iagree:

to be fair, the coated surfaces on suspension components doesn't last very long anyway, but if there are exposed parts of metal then it's allready started to rust

Seems to be a concensus then – send them back. Thanks everyone.

Koni, via the shop, have offered me £20 off, but I'd be worried about the scratches rusting badly. Should I worry about that?

Cheers

Was your supplier a shop or an e-bay outlet?

Either way send them back.

Look at it this way £20 is sod all compared to a possible replacement shock nackered due to rust!

Send em back m8 and get new set, then, more importantly, you will also have piece of mind!

They were from ww.dcdezign.com and it's not their fault really, but Dan at DC has been superb. They just put the order to Koni and Koni send them out but he's apologised loads for it.

Dan at DC has offered me either:

1. Have scratched set picked up and when Koni receive them back, have another new set sent out.

2. If time is an issue, order and pay for a new set, while they arrange for a pick up of the old ones, and then DC will refund me for the second set. It just means I can get the new set quicker.

3. Keep the scratched set, £20 refund and Hammerite the scratches.

I need them by 6 August – when SWMBO's away so I can pop the car in the garage :D

I'm leaning towards Option 1, just a bit worried about timing

if you can afford it mate get new ones then get the refund,

but dont keep them, jus in case and £20 is nothing, Id want at least 60 pos more,

good luk mate

Cheers ClayTarget. I think you're right. I'll buy them on the never never, which will get refunded anyway.

Right, I'm off now to buy another set of Koni STR.Ts.

What have I got myself in to? Just the SuperPro wishbone and dog bone bushes, Forge DV007, and the remap to go then!!!!

Sometimes I wish I'd never discovered this site

Cheers for all the help fellow Briskodians

Why not just ask the original supplier to supply you with another set and collect these ones.

That is exactly what I've done. They collected the scratched set today so hopefully I'll have the new set (without scratches) next week

Don't suppose anyone knows the bore size of this kit? I need to get new bump stops but have no idea what size to get. Powerflex offer about 10 different options
