Looking to buy an Octavia VRS Pd170

Featured Replies

Local dealers have no demonstrators and i have been told they are very peaky, not smooth torque as in the Fabia VRS. One good friend of mine said he would buy the 140 bhp version over the 170 bhp version.

Any comments. Living where I do I'll have to travel a fair way to test drive one, if I can find one.

I want an estate btw.

Have a vRS diesel estate and its brilliant. You may want to wait until you can try the DSG version which is now out though. Have heard its stunning.

Are you planning to buy new? If so, did you know the PD 170 is now being replaced by common rail, which by all accounts gives a much smoother power delivery. I should think new PDs will be stock only.

I've just bought a new pd estate with a "slight adaption to the ecu programme" and all I would say is "christ on a bike". If you are looking for new you will get more toys on a pd if you drive it right will proove a very quick car - I'll do a full report on mine after a month but if you do a search you'll find pics of it which my mate described as a "right little snorter" - after a change of underwear

I love mine! If you get it re-mapped it is seriously fast and fun!!

The torque does tend to arrive in one big lump and you sometimes need to hang on tight! But that is what makes it fun. The new CR engine is said to be smoother across the torque curve, but some have said that this doesn't make it as much fun as the PD170. Buy one and enjoy it mate.

Drove a 170PD today

Waouh ! What a kick !!! Brilliant !

Hope to drive the CR soon before buying a Combi

Wasn't aware of the CR / PD difference. I have bought a 56 plate Octy 2 VRS Estate so it look likes I'll be a PD man. Pick it up this weekend and cannot wait.

I test drove one on Saturday and it was great so no regrets plus I can't afford a new car so no great snags!!!

You wont regret it at all.

Very few cars today IMO can offer a good balance between performance, build quality and economy.

1 day you can pressing on round the back roads and having some fun, the next driving sedatley down the motorway and getting 60 to the gallon.

i'd agree there. even if the cr version is smoother, i think i would miss that kick in the butt the PD gives you :D
