Dog chewed handbrake & gear knob

Featured Replies

Not a joke but........

My dog has chewed my handbrake handle and gear knob. It is difficult the release the handbrake so it will probably fail an MOT. I have got parts from a breaker, and a muzzle for the dog, but don't know how much of a job it will be to remove the old ones and fit the new.

Any advice on central console removal etc appreciated.

Also when on tickover the revs rise and fall from about 500 to 1200. The engine almost stalls then comes back to life.

What is my first step to diagnose please.

First thing to check for thr irractic idle would be the throttle body, it proberly needs a clean. Mine did this when I first got the car, throttle body was full of oily gunk.

With regards to the idle it will almost ertainly be the throttle body (idle control valve) if you can take this off give it a good clean with some carb cleaner and see how it goes.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your kn0b!

There's a good reason I keep a dog cage in our car :D

I have proper octy mesh guard to keep my hounds in the back, but they have never chewed anything in the back (inc spare oil, water, brake fluid, etc). Guard works well, as I can power the back seats and then just slide my mountain bike underneath (rather than having to remove an normal OEM type guard with the legs that get in the way (and the tops that press into the roof lining)
