Next mods - suspension?

Featured Replies

Having had a goodish trash across rural Perthshire yesterday with some of the Briskoda Scottish campers (only a "goodish" thrash as I didn't want to leave the paraffin burners too far behind :D), I decided that the time has come for some inexpensive(ish) suspension mods. I'm getting new tyres on Saturday (225/45/17 Kuhmso KU31's), so what next?

1. Rear anti-roll bar

2. Lower front strut brace

or 3. Upper front strut brace

Opinions, please!

Any tips on the cheapest source for the above also welcome :)

TIA

Alan

Rear ARB Awesome did have 20% off Neuspeed bars this weekend.

This will make a big difference to the handling.

:iagree: as well.

Rear ARB makes a huge difference. Front strut braces stiffen up the front end nicely but don't make half as much difference as the rear.

Also there's drilling to be done to fit the upper brace.

There are details on part numbers of the braces on my website

Neuspeed 28mm rear arb totally transforms the handling of the car, great mod to do.

I'm gonna go for Koni FSD's at some point this year.

And maybe lower springs, but more likely will get some standard height springs, as i hate the sound of scraping bumper!

I don't have a rear ARB, but i've heard the keep the **** flat. I'm not getting one yet, as I rely on the 'safe' handling characteristics to save me when im on the hoon! I think a rear ARB will make lift-off oversteer a more common occurence!

Just got a set of FSD's for mine as well as some powerflex bushes for the front.

If you fancy a demo after they are fitted let me know and i will have a drive over.

How are the FSDs? I wanted to order mine this month but finances won't allow yet :(

Rob i only picked them up yesterday from Awesome so they are sat in the garage waiting to be fitted with front wishbone bushes.I did want a set of KW v3's and may treat myself (no-one else will:() next year, but i really need a ride in a Octy which has them fitted before i can spend that amount of money.

I will post a full review in couple of weeks.

I'm debating whether to get some H&R springs to go with them or leave the standard springs on.

I didn't want to go for these as i fancy the KW but i couldn't resist for the price i paid.;)

Fair enough :D

I thought the FSDs were designed to work with the stock springs?

I plan to leave the stock springs on as I can't afford any lowering on NZ roads and carparks!

FSD's will work with stock springs or upto something like 35mm drop.

I will measure before and after heights as well as i think they will lift the ride height slightly (5mm).

Yes mate you are correct, i have fsd's with standard springs and the ride height is slighty higher then before, i wish i had gone for the h&r springs with 20mm drop at the same time. Though the fsd's do work well the difference when i first drove mine after fitting was amazing!

Rear ARB ftw!
