I've Seen It Sat In It And

Featured Replies

Failed to ram the showroom glass out with it

So here's the one I saw today and a quick thought log

The rear is as I thought, I blame the rear quarter light myself, although it does look way better irl than a picture, the boot is magnificent, a really well executed piece of manufacturing.

The dash is nice but looks too long across from the instruments and the plastics aren't as nice as the current ones, look harder and cheaper if I'm honest about it, sat nav unit and clocks are a nice touch and the whole thing looks unfussy, this can be seen as a plus for some and a minus for others, especially if you're a button and illumination freak like me.

Wheels looked nice and the colour was also extremely classy, I liked the space for servicing as well, all filters are easy to find and you can change a bulb now, so top marks there as well.

From the angle in my shots 4 and 5 the car just looks so nice, but I can't get my nut around the shape of the C pillar, ppl blame the boot but it isn't the boot it's the C pillar, it's kinda Munstered for want of a better description.

Right now I still prefer my version tbh, I got back in it and felt I wasn't missing out on anything tbh other than a newer plate, I think the car will be a good one and will be a success on the practicalities of it and what it offers, but it needs to grow on me before I will write a cheque, I'm sure it will as well, I hated the Vec C when it came out, and although it's no oil painting now it did grow on me, but the Superb hasn't given me the same reaction as that, it's more a case of seeing 90% candy with 10% lacking, but this might become a different light thing soon, maybe that rear will look a whole lot better once the cars are seen about OTR.

Did you notice he'd scuffed the left rear alloy on that one ;)

Reg no:2740 thats the one i saw at Meadens in Brockenhurst on Friday.

So, so ugly.

ford mondeo or what or even megane convertible

Nice car, but I'm not old enough to own one just yet ;)

You are, you just don't want to admit it, or act like it! :P

As for the car, spec etc. looks good, styling not too sure on.

well i saw the same car as supurbia this afternoon......was more worried backing my superb next to the showroom window....as soon as i walked in, i have to admit the new superb had class about it.mind you it was the elegance version, full leather and all the toys...and after wandering around the car, i knew it was better looking than my present comfort facelift model.

But i kept looking around and wanted to find out a bit more about the twin door and parcel shelf....wanted to find out if it was removeable, which barry kindly showed me how to stow it up against the rear split seats.

Then i plucked up courage to sit in the front seat and imagine i was about to drive off when another skoda fellow popped his head in the window and said switch it on...which i did and saw the needles do a full circular movement before returning to their positions....he then said press the button on steering wheeland get menu up which i did......scrolled down through all settings and came across headlights......and there he said i could change from uk settings and at a touch of the button change to continental driving..now that really impressed me....and i was basically falling for the car......then wifey said we had to leave as she had a feeling they wanted to sell a model to us hehe....but they will get me back when funds allow......all i all a nice afternoon viewing a superb superb!!

Thing i cant get head round is superb is actually in the same cat as a mondy, accord etc etc.

Surely its the next class up? Octys are more mondy country IMHO which leaves skoda with no focus/astra contender.

Was yours the black one with the 170 badge on it?

I know where you are coming from and think that its pitched in the Mundano class as its competing on price. It does look a much more expensive car and certainly offers more space, kit and refinement than any of the class can match.Has more road prescence than the Mundano too - a more aggressive front end.I think the accord was designed with a ruler by a 12 year old - hideous!

When the Octy came out here in 1998, it was pitched against Vectras, Mondeos etc and beat them all hands down, so like you say, cant see why its moved down to the Focus/disAstra class.

same one that came to the newbury garage, osf tyre really looked as if it had been drivin as if its been stolen, didnt really notice the others.

I saw the black one with the 170 badge on, looked tidy.

Skoda always had the octy in the focus/astra class. If was the press making a big whohar about the size that got people confused as to where it sat.

Bit concerned re: your opinion on the downturn in interior plastics. I know this happened with the VW Golf from mark 4 to 5. My impression of the Superb II's interior was positive based on my play around at the VIP day (and car was not as highly specced as yours) but i'm a Skoda novice so can't compare against previous model.

Anyone share Superbia's opinion?

I'm not saying they were crap, just a little hard and with that gritpaper finish rather than smooth like it is now, I don't think the leather or the colour of the interior helped either, it became too..all the same for me, if it'd had a nice light grey interior I think my opinion might have been different, don't get me wrong here, the only thing I don't like about the car is the top kink in the C pillar, the roof finishes too narrow imo, like a limo with a short end tacked on to it, other than that it's a lovely car, and I still haven't ruled out getting one either.

I missed it when it was at Winchester Motor Company, but my father saw it - that one! He loved it.

The car is totaly different if you see one for real, the pictures of it just don't work for some reason.......it's quiet inside and very refined and the park assist is magic as are most of the other toys

hi there......yes that was my car with the 170 badge on the back....took ages to line up straight ...but its only for show....gets the other drivers guessing......mind you, it does shift, when empty of females ha ha ha

Like that colour, and the rear has a Phaeton look to it, which isn't a bad thing in my book. Overall I like the look of it, will have to check it out in the flesh, when the time comes.

Don't like the font or location of the rear Superb badge though. It's a Sept UK release isn't it? Anyone know when brochures will be available? Feel I need to show this to my Dad :)

I've a feeling you were doing the scrolling when I jumped in the back of it and Pat asked me to shut the door.

  • 2 weeks later...

having had the superb 130 classic, as a taxi I found that you could not get any more than 2 large cases plus a small one at a push, in the boot will the new one take 4 large ones now

yes supurbia thats right.....i do have a thing about buttons and pressing alsorts of things......i think the new superb has quite a few to keep the motorist interested, must save up and wait for when they finally arrive in the showrooms.

Dont get me wrong i love the one i have now...does exactly what i want it to do, was faultless on holiday last yr, and still get the occasional looks from ppl wondering what car it is.

Tho if i did get the new superb... i dont think i'll get black...such a pain to keep clean!!
