Fabia vrs or Octavia 130?

Featured Replies

I've decided the time has come to change my 5yr old Oct 110 diesel Estate.

At my local dealer to my pleasant suprise i find the've reduced all the Octavia prices (in the case of Elegance 130 diesel Estate over

If you need load space, the 130 estate is the only way to go.

If you don't...buy the Fabia.

:iagree:

(need to lug some gear around often) ...What do i do?

you've answered your own question ! unless by 'gear', you mean the odd 1/8th???

spose you could use this thread to pretend you really had considered the fabia to your wife tho :D

It could simply boil down to what would give you more grief? The difficulty of getting the gear in the octy, or the verbal abuse from the missus for not getting a vrs for her. :D

Suppose the car's for you though, so you can use Steve's excellent excuse that the fact you considered the fabby and chose the octy was 'cos it meets your needs better. ;)

I certainly would not say the octy with 130 lump is more boring than the fabia to drive either... Not that much heavier and probably a little more stable too :)

Edited to say you can obvious get a really good deal on the octy with the price reductions... And so unless you can get a really good deal on the fabia, the octy is probably not much more to buy, if anything...

Tuned PD130 Estate....best of both worlds for you maybe?

Yes Geoff thats what i was thinking!! :D

Percentage wise, i reckon the residuals will be similar.

The main deciding factor is how the car will be used for the majority of the time :)

Might be worth re-checking the price of the "old" octy now that they have had recent pricecuts... dont forget that these new prices are now the list prices... so haggle a bit and its a damn bargain! (even more than usual!!) :)

That price is with is the discounted price, the "old" price was over

Is the Octavia in a a lower insurance group than the Fabia? Another consideration - the Octavia benefits from up to 30,000 mile service intervals on variable servicing whereas the Fabia has to visit the dealer every 10,000 miles.

well bl00dy ell! just checked the new pricelist and damn its good value for money!!!.. a L&K costs less than 16k brand new!!!

Octy RS hatch for under 14k!

why is it a different servicing schedule for the same engine?

Good question..ask Skoda.

That is a very valid question. And there have been countless debates on what type of oil to use (not gonna go into it again).

I think it could be due to cost. The fabia vrs is a real "budget" "warm" hatch car. All the money has gone into getting the basics of the car sorted out. Variable servicing requires sensors on various parts of the car such as brakes, battery (I think), etc and so that costs money.

Considering the aggressive pricing for the fabia vrs and the fact they're probably more likely to be thrashed than the octy, it makes sense to only offer fixed 1 yr / 10k miles servicing.

This was SkodaAuto UK's response to a query re the Fabia and variable servicing.

I was faced with the same choice in january, whether to buy another vrs to go with the one we purchased in september, or to go for the octavia130PD TDI Elegence estate. I went for the octavia- and regretted it!! so i've just part ex'd it for a black Furby vrs!! now much happier!!! ( luckily i just did the deal a week before skoda dropped the octavias price by over
