First scrape in my baby...

Featured Replies

Well, haven't had the car 2 weeks yet, and have already marked it. Caught the front spoiler on the ramp in a multi-storey car park. Has took some paint off, though you can't see it unless you get on the floor and look. It has gone right down to the black plastic.

I'm pretty bloody annoyed about it. I'd already been right up and down the carpark earlier in the day without incident. Must have just hit the wrong part slightly faster than I should. I guess I'm probably not alone in taking some paint off the spoiler, but is it worth touching it in? You can't see it and it's not going to rust, but will it eventually start to flake off?

Cheers

Not Hill Street by any chance was it?..There's a very nasty bit just as you head up the ramp there, it needs to be taken rather slowly ;)

As for the damage, if it's really bugging you there's always the likes of ChipsAway :)

It was the Swallow Hotel car park in Stockton...Did you find out about the Hill street the hard way :) Have you damaged the underside of yours?

Don't think any more paint will come off, but what is chipsaway. The paint is off in a few places in like square centimetre patches...will chipsaway help?

I was more worried that I might have moved the bumper, but it seems solid enough. It didn't hit hard, but a hit is a hit...

Ahh, the Swallow...similar to Hill Street ;)

I found out the hard way, but fortunately not in the RS, i scraped the bumper on my Cav GSi there

Chipsaway are a paint repair outfit, and rather good they are. They sorted a nasty gouge on my drivers door 2 weeks after i got the Skoda.

Might give them a shout, do you have some contact info?

Much appreciated

They'll put you in touch with the local franchise holder, who will give you a free estimate, and will also tell you if it's a bodyshop job, or if he can sort it on-site for you ;)

Excellent...Thanks Geoff...It's just so annoying after having it less than 2 weeks...but you know what I mean :) and yours was a lot worse than mine.

Something you soon get used to, the underside of mine looks more like an LP record.

:D

Cheers Manny. Makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one...

Same here. And mine is standard height still... Dread top think what damage I can do to it when I upgrade suspension...

If the damage can't be easily seen, I would leave it and save the repair money for better use.

Touch up stick...next to leaving it the cheapest option.
