Radio reception

Featured Replies

Greetings to all the Fabia Guru's here.

Earlier this year I replaced by defunct Nokia BT handsfree fit with a Parrot MK6100. No problems with the kit itself but the radio receptions is now very poor. travelling along the M4 between J13 and J10 I have to continually retune to keep BBC R2 audible.

Lots of searching on here later, I'm a tad confused.

If I read it right, there is an amplifier in the antenna that takes its power from the headset via the co-axial. Therefore, if I put a meter across the antenna socket, I should get a voltage, right? I don't. Everything appears to be powered on the black connector.

This is on a 2006 Elegance Estate.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Stop listening to radio 2??

Just joking.

2006? So is it still under warrenty? If so, theres your answer.

I got my head unit replaced on warrenty 'cos the CD eject thing inside was knackerd (audio stuff isnt my speciality).

And cut off the Tog-Meister? Heresy I say

Not convinced that it is the headunit though. Other than the poor reception, everything is fine.

Back-track on the headunit. Can't even get AM stations so looks rather broken. Service due soon so will get that looked at too.

An update for the curious.

A faulty antenna has been diagnosed and id due back in next week for a replacement. Just umming and ahhing about replacing the standard head unit with something else now.

You will still need the antenna replacing anway. Why not do that and see how it goes.

It was more for something that will play MP3, ipod etc. etc. Will see what the pennies are like after an expensive few weeks ahead.
