Nocking noise?

Featured Replies

Hey guys i wonder if you can help me please. Ive got a 2004 Fabia VRS and i love it, but the only problem is that when you engage or disengage the clutch at low speed and low gears there is a nocking/creaking noise that can be heard. After reading through the site i thought "AH! it must be the rear dogbone mount on the engine!" so i bought the uprated one from jabbasport but the problem still exists. The steering doesnt shake when driving at speed (60-70MPH) and doesnt shake under braking, no noise heard when turning etc. This problem is really strange i appreciate any help and advice that can be given. Cheers in advance.

The engine mount on the gearbox side needs greasing I think - mine did something similar a while back. After setting off I'd dip the clutch to change to 2nd gear and it'd clunk - same going to 3rd. Dealer said it was normal - sigh....

sounds like a gearbox issue to me. happened to me when i drove the 1.9sdi, random clunking the gradually got worse. Ended up having the gearbox refurbished. I could be wrong, but get it check out.

best of luck

The gearboxes are indestructable on the vRS. Have you tried rocking your engine by hand - ie pushing it back and forth using the rocker cover? Might be your drivers side top engine mount?

Cheers for the replies guys, im getting alot of useful information off this site and hoping to solve the problem soon, i have also discovered i can here the sound occasionaly when going over a speed bump with my foot on the clutch too, aswel as when engaging/ disengagin clutch and on/off the throttle im suspecting gearbox side engine mounting and im hoping my old man (Username Sattaff) (who also has a VRS, he had to go one better though and buy one 2 years newer and half the mileage  ) and his mate can get chance to take the battery out etc to take a look and grease the bush. im also going to be buying Front/Rear Anti-roll bars and uprated bushes allround such as wishbone bushes etc hoping that buy doing all this will hopefully fix the problem. Please keep posting if you have any advice or ideas on anything else to check.

I had a simulair problem asnd it turned out to be my engine cover. Kept coming lose as the rear braket was split than knocked everytime i changed gear and turned.
