Maxidot??????

Featured Replies

I take it the Maxidot some are on about is the oblong display, that show all the info like MPG and distance remaining in the tank between the rev and speedo.

Would I be right that I would need to change the speedo panel with one from a higher spec one and obtain the stalk, would I need anything else IE wiring or is everything there, also would I have to get it set up by a dealer?????

To fit maxidot to a car that wasn't previously fitted then you only need a new dash insert. It will normally be carried out by a dealership as this houses your immobilisor and must be matched to the ECU and then to the keys.

You already have the stalk.

No I dont have the stalk mine has no buttons only the wiper speed, and I only have standard keys, though i wish i had the blip-per one like my Superb

Yours is the "Classic" model?

yes the classic MK2 estate, I wonder if anyone has managed to change from standard keys to blip ones

Ahh ok, you will need the stalk then - They don't come with the trip computer.

Sorry to open a old thread, but i've been looking to do this to my Mk2 Classic also.

For a dealer to do this, what sort of price would i be looking at?

And are the dealers the only garages that have the software required to match the immobiliser to the ecu and keys?

I think you'll be looking at £300 - £400 for the dash insert. 30 mins to install it.

If you have the 4 digit SKC for your current car and one is provided with the dash insert than it is possible to do with with VAG-COM but to be honest just as easy to let a dealer do it.
