Brake balance - VRS Mk1

Featured Replies

What is the standard ? 50/50, 60/40 etc

Had my rear discs and pads changed recently and have covered say 500~ miles on them and have noticed some brake squeal under light braking.

After a burn I have also noticed the front discs are mega hot to touch whilst the rears are noticably less and touchable.

Is this the norm?

2003 Vrs btw ;)

Anyone?

The front brakes are doing a lot more work then the rears, so sounds normal to me?

Was going to drop it back in to be checked as I wasn't aware of ratio but it is breaking fine i'll give that a miss... gave it a bit of a run and the squeeling has pretty much dried up.

Obviously not caining it enough :D

Fronts should do the majority of the work, not sure on specific ratios though. The squeal is probably just the new pads/disk bedding in.

Fronts do most of the work, but how relevant is the bias ratio on a car with standard anti-lock?

FWIW, under really hard braking the weight distribution can move to something like 90/10 front/rear.
