Fabia courtesy car

Featured Replies

Just dropped off the octy vrs off in York for more investigation into its boost problem,my local dealer has been looking at it on sevral occasions since december and have not rectified it so understandably im getting a little bit annoyed with said dealer because i have had to cope with my car surging and lacking power for months now but fingers crossed this dealer will be better than the last one and they will restore my motor to its former glory, anyway back to what this thread was supposed to be about picked up a fabia 1.2htp courtesy car in classic trim that ive got to use for 3 days and i have to admit its not as bad as it looks (its the estate model before i get flamed) didnt expect it to have a cd player and electric windows etc in it but after driving it i can honestly say that there not as bad as i thought they would be  ,power is virtualy non existant on this model  and the looks are an aquired taste but the drive was nice and smooth and overall there not a bad little car for the money and although i dont think i could ever wish to own one myself (vrs possibly :D ) i do now have a bit more respect for the fabia  but somehow i dont think i will ever love them like i do the octy vrs ;)

I'm in a similar situation and have dropped in my TDI Fabia for it's service and have the pleasure of driving around in a 1.4-16v Comfort hatch back. Not a bad car at all, but I miss the boot release on the key fob, electric rear windows, heated seats and my alpine head unit and autochanger, as well as my Eibachs. Also think the engine feels a bit gutless, but that might be because I expect a wallop of torque at 2k rpm and should be revving this as it's a petrol engine! ;) Going to give it a good thrashing on my way home so I can properly compare it to the TDI

Luckily, I'd been put down for the 1.4-16v auto but I managed to swing it so I got a manual, just in case I find any rice puddings that need the skin pulling off ;)

I had a 1.2 Fabia courtesy car the other week for a day while the Octy was in for the service, and other than the rather angluar dash board and interior styling I was well impressed. The engine had a decent amount of go considering its size, and steering I found to be noticably quicker than in the Octy. Presumably there are less turns lock to lock on the Fabia rack compared to the Octy.

Overall I was well impressed and this made me wonder what the vRS Fabia would be like to drive. One thing I didn't like was the wind up window handle was too close to the seat height adjuster lever and so hand would get squashed once every revolution of the window regulator. A small matter of no consequence when electric windows are an option I guess.

So out of five, I'll give it: :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: &

I saw a courtesy car from my local Peugeot garage the other day, sides emblazoned with Peugeot logos and the like.

And the car?

A Fabia!

I had the estate version when mine was in for a service. To be honest if they put the 1.9tdi lump in it I'd have one.

They put the 100bhp PD engine in the estate and it is very nice. Personally I hate the 1.2 as I can't get on with very revvy engines. The SDI is quite fun but for have to really thrash it to get decent performance.
