Erm it requests a log on and password to access it:confused: Any chance the pdf can be made available?:)

Had these for nearly two weeks, but was not allowed to publish them.

I know that the dealers have now received bulletin MKT4708, so hopefully all the information will be public very soon.

Many thanks Skorob:thumbup:

I was under the impression the 6 CD Changer came as standard with the Columbus Navigation System

Seeing as skorob has published it, here's a PDF in slightly more readable form.

There are two anomalies I've spotted in the list, namely:

- Rear and side window sunscreens are shown under all models, but are in fact standard on the Elegance.

- My list is missing the price for just heated rear seats (on the Elegance). I guess Skoda must have added them after sending the info to the dealers.

Another plus point (for me, at least) is that the wood décor is now optional on all trim levels. Standard fit is what Skoda are calling Mirage décor (imitation metal).

Is it too late to add the Heated Washer Nozzles at this stage in the game? Placed the order 2 weeks ago.

Nope. 6 CD changer is optional on all models, as the Columbus has the hard drive and SD slots for your music.

I'm guessing it's all about building the car to a certain price. I thought it was weird that the auto dimming mirror is optional on the Elegance, but it is.

You should be fine, as all RHD cars (except dealer demos) are scheduled for either week 36 or 37 build (which I think starts 8th September).

Ordered the Dimming Mirror but had no idea that a CD Changer was not standard. I have ordered the upgraded sound system but no CD.......Gutted!! Have to speak to my dealer tomorrow on that one and the heated washer nozzles

Don't forget that you can play CDs in the DVD drive of the Columbus. You can also load up a DVD-R with MP3s and that will also play. If you use dual layer disks, that's over 7GB of MP3s. Way more than a CD changer can hold any day.

Bagpuss.

Very true but you have to copy your CDs to MP3s then copy it to the hard drive of the Columbus Not always convenient.

Agreed. I've got over 700 CDs in my collection, and it took a hell of a long time to convert them all to MP3. It was worth it though, as I've now got all my music in the car at the same time (my current car MP3 player has 2 x 160GB hard drives). Whenever I buy music now, I convert the CD to MP3 straight away, and then put the CD in the rack (never to be touched again).

My main concern with the Superb is not the CD changer, but that the Columbus hard drive only has about a 10th of the storage I actually need for my music. I'm hoping that someone will figure out how to replace the disk with a bigger one, or that I can get the MDI interface from VW to work in the Superb (then I can use USB hard drives).

option prices ok I guess, though metallic at £400 is quite steep.

Looks like my build with extras if I decide to proceed will be costing £18,884, thats for the 1.8 Elegance.

Prob not too shabby given the spec. Not convinced the 1.8T will provide enough grunt though.

1.8T is a nice engine, and actually goes well in the Superb. A 170CR would be a more powerful choice but the cost will go up massively.

  • 2 weeks later...

Skoda UK not very informed.. again...

Sent email last week asking about the 'Indepent Heating' as referred to on page 11 of the NewSuperb_Accessories_ENG.PDF, asking for price as not shown in options list. Brief reply along the lines of see brochure when available.

New Brochure now on web, so telephoned them today, asking about the Indepent Heating. They did not know what I was talking about - however, I tried to explain, referred to page 11 of above PDF, asking for price, is this an option for GB, and when it will be available.

Just received a reply - saying that 'standard in Elegance - will maintain the temperature selected'.

Bless, nice simple description of Climatronic. I tnink any one of the posters here have more knowledge.

Does anyone know of a sensible contact to ascertain this information re Indepent Heating - or Parking Heater as sometimes described as?

Sounds as this could be a system found on some BMW/Range Rovers that's able to preheat the engine/car prior to driving away, common in cold countries etc.

Personally my car wars up quickly anyway and with Climate/Control heated seats I wouldn't worry about a pre-heater.

I think the BMW stored heat from previous days driving with a ceramic clock, similar to storage heaters.

It may mean Independant Heating of the rear seats?

Or yes it could be some kind of Webasto aux heater system like they have in cold countries, but this won't be a factory option to the UK market.

Independent heating is not planned for any UK models of the Superb.

As you say, it's a system which allows the car to warmed up prior to setting off on a journey. To quote the Skoda HQ website:

"In the winter, on the contrary, you can pre-heat your car to your preferred temperature with the help of independent auxiliary heating, and you are certain to appreciate the heated front and rear seats."

It's mainly designed for very cold countries, so that's probably why Skoda UK have not bothered with it (and some of them do understand what it is).

If you really want it, then keep nagging Skoda UK, preferably via your dealer and direct via snail mail. At one time, heated front seats weren't available on the Octy vRS, but concerted efforts by people here got Skoda UK to change their minds.

Bagpuss.

Skoda UK will get the factory to do anything providing the interest and profit it would generate outweighs the outlay and the time involved.

If enough people said yes I would buy an Octavia vRS+ with mammoth performance; I'm sure they'd make an all wheel drive 280bhp monster, but their thinking is that if people want that kind of performance they are looking at S3's and if they need an estate family car with that performance they'll look at 335i or something similar.

i dont think 400 is that bad considering its 375 for a octy :)

the 1.8t certainly has enough grunt mate, i gave that engine some stick at millbrook and found it to feel very similar to how it feels in the octy. dont forget a cheeky remap would make it even better! good choice though, i would certainly love a 1.8t elegance :D
