Kerb weights

Featured Replies

As a caravan owner car weight are important for getting the weight ratio between car/caravan.Ours say's 1560 klg but i have not gone to a weighbridge to see whether this is correct within certain limits. We have the Elegance 140 dsg 55 plate , tow bracket and electrics are the only extras from original spec. Has anyone got simular and had it weighed?.

most big lorry yards will have a weigh bridge, best thing i use to do was drive on to the way bridge then walk into the office to enquire about something else and then you got your weight on the screen behind ;) dont know if they charge or can charge. other than that pop down to your local vosa check point and ask them if they can check the weight as you not happy with the book weight and dont want to break the law ;)

The Skoda brochure's kerbweights for the Octavia are unreliable. A good guide to kerbweight is given in the vehicle's V5 document. I got my Scout TDi weighed and it came in at 1650 kg. If you allow about 25 kg for the towbar, the car itself (including driver and 90% full fuel tank) has a kerbweight of 1625 kg and my V5 document says 1605 kg.

Your figure of 1560 kg won't be far wrong. If you do go to a weighbridge make sure your fuel tank is nearly full and stay in the car or on the weighbridge when it is weighed. Your car should be able to safely tow a MTPLM of approx 1400kg.

Hope this helps!

On paper my vRS weighs in at 1515Kg, never had a chance to weigh it but since i'm only towing 1175Kg its not an issue.

my petrol vRS weighed in a 1342kg :S seems a bit light
