Remaps in Glasgow area..?

Featured Replies

Custom Code or Celtic Tuning......???

it's whats available to me near me, as i cant be arsed driving thro' to Star in Fife or down to England.

Just looking for a basic remap, missing the power of ma old Scooby...!!!

So my question is, does anyone have experience of either company...??

any pro's or cons....???

i looked at both their websites, and to say they looked a bit hopeful at their power figures was an understatement...!!! altho' CC seemed a bit more realistic....

holding my breath in response...!!!

drivers in glasgow are a Revo dealer, they of any use?

i wouldn't use drivers if they were the only re-mappers in scotland.....

only ever heard bad things of them.....

im really wanting to know if the re-mappers i have mentioned (both Clydebank based, A for Audi and AudiVwrepaircentre) are competent in their mapping capabilities....

i know its just a generic map im after, but i hate using places that are just wham bam, thankyou, give us your money.....!!!

I suppose Bedrock are through that way, but fife really isnt that far :P

Bedrock (Motherwell) are a Jabba agent.

I'd not go near Drivers' either (well I would, but only to get to Pastimes, the halls off Maryhill Road, or Henry's)! ;)

Not like Dunfermline's that far either.

Gerry at the AudiVW repair centre in Clydebank does Custom code remaps and is a sound guy, and his pricing is pretty reasonable. Thats where i get my B6 Passat serviced, and he's offering the phase 1 remap for my 1.9Tdi105 for about £220 that will give me 135bhp up from 105 with no fuel consumption detriment. I *think* that includes a dyno run afterwards to see what power you are genuinely putting down through the wheels too.

I'd consider Revo too, but not from Drivers at Charing Cross. They charge astronomical prices, for backstreet cowboy standards of workmanship (in my experience at least)

You do also have the option of an Angel Tune. Colin is pretty sound, but Angel don't discount willy-nilly so you can expect to pay the full £300-350 for a remap. Their phase 1 does give a little more than the CC one though. For a Vrs you'd get a genuine +40bhp for £350

Thats the only 3 companies i can talk about, as i have never been up to Star in fife or used jabba at all. (yet)

Dont be afraid of the quoted power increases for remaps. They are generally pretty close to whats achievable. Turbo'd motors, and diesels in particular, can see massive gains of up to 40% through a remap. Basic 'phase one' or 'generic' remaps tend to

I might drop in at the place in Clydebank (dead handy for me too) next time I'm visiting my mum, but initially just for a chat.

Try Davie at Diamond Tints Rutherglen ( also Diamond tunning ) they should do it for £200, same source maps as angel. Mention SVAG group buy to get that price.

I phoned for a quote and was told I can get my vRS remapped for £312 inc vat.

Can't say that Drivers are crap as had very good sevice from them, also if anybody bothered to look inside you'll find only top end car owners go there. Last time there were 3 porsche gt2,carrera an SL amg merc,x5, M5, my little octavia and a civic. They wouldn't go there if they were crap, in those circles your reputation is over if you muck it up and they haven't.

As for prices they are no worse than STAR performance or Jabba at about £500. Remember Revo are not a poor clone of other companies hard work.

The same goes with Star with top quality mapping from a company who has been moddifing for more than 20years, not just jumped on the band wagon when it got easy.

Choose wisely and remember if its cheep its for a reason. The company may not be there when somthing goes wrong in the future. Stick to established Tuners who have done the rounds for a few years.

Also what about Bluefin, re-mapp as good as any top tuner but you can plug it in your self select the program that suits your car spec and away you go.
