Nice new 24" PC monitor

Featured Replies

As I have been working for my current employer for 20 years, it was time for my second long service award. This time it was £200 worth of vouchers of my choice, so I got some Currys ones as they were the only ones on the list I would have used.

So today I spent them and got myself a new monitor to replace the quiet old 20" widescreen HP one I had been using.

I am now sitting in front of a 24" LG W2452T monitor, which for the price I paid today has a pretty good spec.

Full HD (1920x1200) resolution,

Fully HDCP compliant,

DVI and VGA input, and lots of menu options.

LG Wide Screen Monitor | W2452T : LG UK

Initial impressions are good, the display is crisp and bright and colours seem excellent and uniform. I hooked up my XBOX HD-DVD drive, and played a few HD disks to see how it would perform and the picture was amazing.

Bring on the next 5 years, for another £250 to spend.

Very nice indeed,i often think LG are overlooked, but make some really good products, and best of all it was free....well apart from the 20 years hard labour!;)

I'm still slumming it in 19" CRT world. :D

LG actually make most of the LCD screens for other manufacturers. Where did you buy it from mannyo?

PC World, just over the £200 mark at £239. Still for 39 quid of my money its a really good screen.

All our monitors in at work (some 400 or so) are LG and they never seem to go wrong, unlike the assorted brands we used to use including daewoo, tiny etc. which were CRT but always broke down.

Looks very nice indeed... :thumbup:

I agree about LG stuff as well. :)

I recently got myself a 22" Iiyama, makes a nice change from slumming it with 17" TFT's. :D

Very nice - tasty spec on that one :thumbup:

And my response comes via its 22" brother; not the first piece of LG kit I've had, and won't be the last....

24 inch monitor? :magnify::eyepop:

Think I'd need wider specs to use one of them.

Lightweight!!!! I still got a 17" CRT with a flat screen :rofl::rofl:

That LG looks tasty though.

I'm planning to upgrade but the Samsung I wanted isnt available and I cant find no reviews of a new screen yet.

That plus I have no money yet!!

I've just re-read your mail, Manny, and 20 years at the same employers? That's highly impressive. i thought I did well managing 10 years at my last place! 20 years with the same employer in the world of IT is pretty exceptional!

Strange you should mention that; I carried out trials at work for monitor upgrades for our CAD operators. 24" was found to be the maximum size on the desks they use, without them needed to move their head side-to-side, in order to see everything on the screen. So a 28" model suffers from what was termed 'the Wimbledon effect' :D

19"! some people have all the luck. I'm still using a 17" that I got with a Dell 7 years ago.

LG kit is excellent and not just their monitors.

Samsung kit is excellent too.

Just out of interest is the surround really reflective?

I bought an LG telly and the shiny black surround bugs me as it reflects everything - I even condsidered sanding it.

I love getting new monitors :) new pcs too obviously! Last year I got a Dell 24" widescreen monitor, tis very nice and looks big for the first week or so! Now I wish I'd got the 26! :rofl: I bugged the ar5e off col to help me research them and it came down to this one and another make I forget the name of which were coming up top. I went with this one because I could get it in black :)

Enjoy your monitor! :)

Just spat coffee out as I read that as "I buggered the ar5e off col":eek:

Feeling less shocked though now.

A friend baought a massive telly for her tiny house and gets motion sickness watching it.

Yes, but I bet you've upgraded all the insides, put in some bigger capacitors and colour coded everything in sight?
