From what I understood there will be right hand drive models in the UK by April 2009.

I would like to think you are right James (as i will be looking for a 2 - 3 yr old one myself) but as there are non built yet for testing, April may be a little optimistic.

I'm sure I was told at the Superb launch that they wanted us to be selling them alongside the Hatloon or Salback (Saloon-Hatchback; as I like to refer to it as....) I'm sure it was by Q3 next year, I'm sure the first line on the graph was April for initial sales.

As far as testing goes there isn't much to test as all the safety/technolodgy/engineering aspect will have been tested in either the new Superb or previous models, it is just a slightly different design.

If you recall the Octavia II launch the estate followed not too long after and there was no additional testing required.

I hope you are right, my main thoughts for the testing would be aerodynamics, road noise and most importantly keeping the rain out, but since when has a 'bit' of water ingress ever worried VAG?

I'm sure they'll suprise you with the quality of the new car!

I'd like to know where the original poster go the date 3rd November 2009 for UK launch, as I have never been told this by anyone. Next time I speak to someone in the know in Skoda UK I will ask and try and get an idea of when we can expect this new car. As far as I know the next 24 months are going to be manic for Skoda.

We've got the new Superb, Octavia facelift, Superb Estate, Yeti, Fabia vRS (also maybe a Fabia Scout), and the Joyster. At some time in the future I've heard that the VW Sharan replacement will be coming to Skoda. So we'll finally have a proper 7 seater MPV.

Skoda will be quite busy during 2009 as they want to release YETI before Superb combi. There are pre production examples already testing on the roads but final specification are not agreed and combi model is still under development and many changes are implemented due course. Late 2008 or early 2009 there will be pre-production serie manufactured. They are going to start selling YETI model before summer 2009. During summer months production of Superb combi commence and sale fire up autum 2009.

Hahahaha, what a turn of fortunes, here we are in 2008 where Skoda are building nice reliable cars for good value asking prices, all the while this country goes down the pan, my dentist is Slovakian, and she is the best one I've ever had, her methods and practices make a UK dentist look like something from the 1800's.

My "guess" is that Skoda Superb Estate will come late summer/early fall 2009 - at least in the LHD version. RHD I dont know. It will have 4WD and the 2.0 CRD engine available from the beginning.
