Cloned Key (programming it to the car question)

Featured Replies

I recently lost one of my keys and a local garage put me intouch with a guy that clones keys by reading the info from the chip in the good key.

The thing is although the cloned key works sometimes the car imobliser system dosent recognise the key and you have to keep pulling the key out and turning it a few times before the car will think the key is ok.

The orginal key works without problem its just the cloned key that is doing this, its like the car knows its cloned and it is double checking the data.

Is there a way to make the key work on the first turn of the key as the mrs ha the good key and i have the cloned one and its doing my head in when you just want to start the car and just go

Thanks for the help

I would go back to the company which cloned the key and ask them to try again.

Have you tried doing a resync on the clone yet? If so, then Phil's right.

I Think the octavia has a rolling code imobilser, once the code has been used the oem key moves onto the next in sequence. If the cloaned key is then used the code is invalid so the car will not start. Cloaned keys are fine with cars that have a fixed immo code. The only proper way to get a second key is with a new fob and correct coding from a dealer.

Goto Skoda Main Dealer and get keys would have been less troublesome in the long run. It might have saved you agro, money, time and inconvenience..
