Fabia Greenline

Featured Replies

My 1.9 SDi has averaged 55.2 mpg over 80,000 miles from new. I would agree that the computer is a bit out, ditto the speedo compared to my Tom-Tom, but the fuel is not bad!!

Very interesting topic, can you use bio-diesel in the greenline? In fact, can you use bio in any of the fabia diesels?

Lo Trev, that's a no! Don't use bio from a specific bio pump (check your fuel flap label and manual). Although, all diesel has bio in it in varying amounts...from 5% upto around 10% depending on the brand you buy. The government target is now for all diesel to carry at least 15% bio in the next few years. That'll be ok for the Fab or mostly any other diesel as I understand it. With mods the Fab should run on neat bio too which can be better for the engine as well as the environment. But this isn't the thread to discuss Bio...there are other threads about it. ;)

Just drove back from London to West Cumbria today had a clear run and sat between 65 and 70mph average fuel consumption was 81.9mpg

That is excellent, it beats my standard 1.4tdi 80 by a good 10mpg.

That's a massive range! You could drive from London to the factory on a single tank!

That is impressive, i can see the appeal of the greenline for economic reasons, but i would like a bit of oomph every now and again so i went for the standard 1.9, which is still pretty economical IMHO

I’ve had my Fabia Greenline estate since May. It has now covered 12000km/7500 miles and the computer this far show an average of 66mpg. More than half of the distance has been driven urban, in Gothenburg, at rush hour (lots of queues to the Volvo factory in the mornings). It’s obvious though that the computer is a bit optimistic, I would say that it shows about 10 percent wrong regarding fuel consumption.

The weekly trip to the cottage is 50km/31miles of witch a few km is urban. The rest is hilly country road with just a few traffic lights and roundabouts, speed limits 70 and 90 km/h - the best mpg this far is 97 – driving carefully with the ac shut of. Driving fast and furious (sure - in a Fabia Greenline…), 62 mpg is the highest consumption I have got that stretch. When I drive “normally” it’s about 80 mpg.

The figures are according to a computer that hasn’t quite understood the importance of being honest – but even considering the 10 percent I’m very pleased. The car is great, it took some time to get used to the high gearing and narrow torque range but after getting used too it – I really like the car. And I think there is surprisingly much oomph when I’ve learned where to find it. Except for that I would not mind a smoother engine at low revs.
