Featured Replies

just fitted 2 new coil springs on front of my octavia 19tdi 2002 2 days later the struts are leaking both of them any idears any 1

2002 Octavia is a Mk1 not a MK2! Were the struts genuine Skoda (VAG) parts?

Misread your post. You have changed the springs, but not the struts. How many miles has the car done? what was the reason for changing the springs?

are they lowering springs? have you bottomed the shocks out?

no just standard springs

Still in the wrong section.

Regardless of the cause they will need changing, bummer.

did you use mole grips on the chrome part of the shocker when putting the new springs on?

yes

Bingo

The mole grips burr the damper shaft, this then goes down into the damper and rips the oil seal at the top.

They dont provide an allen key in the top of the damper for nothing.

I think 130k out of a set of shocks is doing very, very well. If you owned a Vauxhall you'd expect to replace the shocks at about 50k.
