Obviously I know it's not a Skoda, however I do know there's a wealth of VW knowledge on here, so here goes.

A good mate of mine is looking at buying one of these and I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this car and what your thoughts are. Particularly around performance and reliability.

I know it don't float everyone's boat, so I'm not really after if you like it or not, nor am I wishing to go down the pro/anti 4x4 argument, just practical and honest info.

Performance = v good

Reliability = Dont get that many problems with them

Economy = **** poor...lol

Verdict = Splash the cash and get an R50 and take them like a King.

Solid as a rock i'd suggest. Resale ain't gonna be great in this climate but better than a petrol, maybe. Imho probably between it and range rover for best 4x4 for road use

I'd rather have the engine in a car than an SUV, but other than that, if it floats his boat...

If he gets a warranty quote on it he'll soon see how reliable the market perceives it to be. Then can decide if it's worth it, since the stats on these websites has average repair costs time off the road etc

Haven't driven one, but would like one if it could do 50mpg.....

Viewed, road tested and deposit put down. Serious serious engine and spec.
