Subwoofers...1 x 15inch vs 2 x 12s?

Featured Replies

nice neat install

Great Install

Very neat and stealthy. I like it a lot.

I really miss some base in my car and found this for a mk1 but nothing similar for a mkll.

JL Audio: Products

I know you have to raise the boot floor by an 1" or so if you fit to an octavia rather than a golf. Ive heard a demo one in a leon and it sounds very very good.

Its not cheap though, About £410-£450 imported. And its made to order so takes ages unless you fall lucky and they have some stock.

Wow! Not seen one of those before! I just installed a can of tyre weld instead :D

I've been out of it for a while so not up on current stuff.

that is a nice neat install, if you ever go bigger i woudl def go MTX though, i used to have 2 15"'s and they were awesome. thunder 8000 with a big 81000D mono block amp and people used to say it was like having a second heart beat sitting in back as it really put out some deep bass!

JL was way too common at the time, this was about 5 years ago though I think?

Very nice mate. When I win the lottery I'm going to treat myself to a van and enough 18s to cause the suspension trouble :D but I need my boot space more these days. I'm still looking at a 15 and the JL still fits the bill being shallow but my 10 has a lot of excursion and sounds more like a 12 so I'm happy...for the moment ;)

I took it out for a maiden flight tonight

i have also had a 400w 15 rockford fosgate punch sub with a rockford fosgate 300w amp which took out my rear screen :Yikes:

no it didnt mate. Your rear window will have already been broken for that to make any difference to it.

I've seen 150DB+ in cars and the rear window is fine.

If you have enough space and power for 2 12's ported then go for that. You get more cone area so in theory should be louder.

Also, dont listen to the myth about 15's cant be punchy. Its all in the design of the box, i've heard 18's with a good punch before and 12's and 10's can drop low just aswell as a 15. A mate of mine had a 10" massive audio sub in a tranmission line style box which played a flat 130DB from 10hz to 40hz

Ryan I'll agree with you there. This 15 has surprised me by being more punchy. It has a lot of energy between 40-50hz. The 10inch used to throw very well and 30hz performed well despite it's smaller cone size.

I had a play last night ...
