Road trip, final check list

Featured Replies

I think that's why if you go to the post office or M&S or similar you need to have your driving licence or passport with you to buy currency with a debit or credit card.

Had no problems getting all mine yesterday from m&s, despite my Switch card snapping in my hand while stood at the counter  The chip still worked fortunately, just been onto the bank to issue me a new card in a hurry, should be here on Wednesday cross fingers...

Switch apparently is different to the debit card. I think passport etc. is just for identity confirmation.

Just re-read the list - ferry tickets? I've just got the booking confirmation email, that's enough right?

Just hand in your passport(s) and a print-out of the e-confirmation at ferry check-in.

yup just print out your e-mail :)

Just got back from 2 weeks bimbling round Europe, have a great time, remember to watch your speed near the French coast, especially when heading North. Kent Police are doing Exchange visits with the Frech police so you might even be stopped by a British Plod, still wont get any points though.

From another Forum over August bank holiday weekend

Kent Police in conjunction with the French Police did a speeding swoop on the Toll boths on the A26 Near Junc 3....they caught 28 english cars out of 600 total between the hours of 14:00 and 18:00 on the Sat and Sun..

Speed are between 145-174km/h

Also that a F355 was confiscated on the Boulogne road doing the A16 doing 174 in a 110 limit...

Remember when on mount Ventoux to keep the camera ready, its used by manufacturers for testing & you might catch a glimpse of something good, they usually test early morning & on the lower sections.

Fire extinguisher installed, I liked the front of driver's seat idea but the clip on mine was far too loose, first emergency stop and it would go clattering into my ankles. So it's gone here:

Just screwed into the carpet with some short self-tappers.

Thanks for that Will, mine would probably have sprung free as well:O self adhesive velcro hooks to bottle and fibre strap round cage should have sorted any potential hazard now:D

Speedos' packed, everything charged up, car checked, ready to go:thumbup: just 2 days to wait :grumpy:

Have a good trip :) And plenty of pics :)

Money ordered today, just hope I have enough, credit cards will be with me though.

With regards to the tyre weld, I have a full size 18" spare anyway which I'll be taking :D, and given the choice between changing a tyre on the side of the road and using tyre weld, I think I'd rather change my tyre.

My point re the tyre weld was, put it in, cruise to next service station, change it in safety there.

Enjoy yourself and as I said to Andrew, when I was over a week or so back there were roadworks on the M20 at night so leave a bit more time as the signs implied it was long term work.

Leave a brisky sticker somewhere at the top of Ventoux, I can look out for it in a few weeks

Bolleux, didn't know that.

Looks like I'll be receiving a pressie in the post as I was running very late for the ferry. Do you know if they were the only on when a restricted limit type or if they were the always on type.
