Cheap Chips from Ebay

Featured Replies

sounds like BS to me mate...i know some one who went for similar thing paid

I think this chip basically fools the ECU into thinking more air is available than is, so pumps more fuel into the engine. 15bhp sounds quite conservative so I doubt it will do the engine any harm, although I think Faboka has one similar which caused his CEL to come one due to the ECU being confused ;)

At the end of the day, if you can't afford the effects of a knackered engine, then you don't want to be a cheapskate when you mod, but the decision is all yours ;):D

Chris

What engine are these "chips" for. Diesel or petrol? If its the petrol then I would stay clear. I'm not technical but I don't think you can simply overfuel a petrol engine. If its the EVRY mod for the PD diesel engine then yes they do work. A few people over on seatcupra.net use it as do I. FabiaTDI also has one fitted. So far I can't fault the box except for the CEL light every 2K miles.

This modification chip is a fraction of the cost of a general ECU upgrade, it is very easy to install and will add up to 15 BHP to your vehicle. If your vehicle is equipped with electronic fuel injection, it will work. 99% of cars manufactured after in or after 1988 are equipped with a fuel injection system, It will however not work on turbocharged vehicles, or diesel engines.

Mmmmm Snake oil :D

Seems like it is only for petrols.

Edit- beaten to it.....

Thanks for the advice.

I think my girlfriend is feeling a little left behind in her 75bhp 1.6LXi. She mentioned it after driving my 4x4, and another 4x4 courtesy car so I thought I'd check it out for her.

With the possible risks, it's just not worth it is it!

On another note about her LXi, it stopped on the fast lane of the M60 last Wednesday, because the battery was flat as it hadn't been charging (things could have turned out quite badly that morning, thankfully they didn't). However, why did the battery light not warn the battery was not being charged?

you normally get a resistor and if your lucky you may get a
