Oil service needed

Featured Replies

Darth is overdue for his 40000 mile service :o:O

Main bit I can't do myself is the oil & filter change 'cos I don't have a garage or drive :(:(

So I'm going to risk one of the fast-fit lots to do this. Kwik-Fit quoted me £25, as did National. That's for a semi-synthetic oil. Kwik-Fit said it would be a 10W-40. National can do Mobil 1 for £35.

Question: should I chance it? I can change the plugs, air filter and brake fluid myself. Off to get the owners handbook, but I think I'd rather get my own (decent) oil and get them to change it for me!

The oil these places use maybe ok, but they tend to use cheap no name oil filters and these are just as important.

I've just checked on Opie Oils and for £30.44 inc vat I can get a service pack of 6 litres of Fuchs oil plus a Purolator filter.

Seems OK and I'll get a local garage to do the dirty bit :):)

Does the sump plug need a new washer?

Oh, and do Opie do a Briskoda/Freedom discount? :D:D

Opie do briskoda discounts, if you search for posts by oilman you should be able to locate the post with how to get the discount.

if you havent got a garage or drive how are you going to change the brake fluid? you need to get the car jacked up & the wheels off to change the brake fluid so why not change the oil & filter yourself when your under the car? :)

To change the brake fluid all I need to do is take the wheels off - that I can do in the street.

To change the oil and filter I'd have to get the car high enough to get under to remove the sump plug. I may have lost weight, but I'm not slim enough to get under a vRS! :):)

Should be manageable with some ramps. You only need to get your head/arms under.

Hi mate, I will change your oil and filter for you . I am from shotts but work in bathgate so if you can get to any of these places I can do it .
