Clutchless shifting

Featured Replies

My Dad showed me how to start off in a car when you can't lose the clutch.

So now I know how to clutcless shift

You actually have to start the car with first gear engaged.

Em no. At least, not according to my old Xantia, which once broke its clutch cable. Ok, I'd have had problems with getting reverse, but it had enough torque at idle that you could let first gear synchros do the clutch thing.

Had an old Vauxhall VX2.3 years ago and drove around for a week with no clutch - cable broke too potless to repair- reverse was the problem, oh and stopping!

Lol... i do this sometime when i cant be bothered raising my foot for the clutch... but only when moving not setting off or stopping... lol

Crikey!

I once drove a Scirocco form Birmingham city centre to Sutton Coldfield without a clutch in order to buy a cable (and fit it on a car park!). I had to start it in gear and stall it at every stop. Traffic was a little bit lighter then, but it was still tricky.
