loss of power

Featured Replies

Hi all The problem I have at the moment is that when I pull away ,no matter what level of revs I give the car,it falls to about 600 RPM.this is intermittent at the moment but it is getting worse. Also if going up hill you can really feel the power dying off and have to keep changing down.On the flat it feels fine and like there is plenty of power there but occasionally it does feel as if its "hunting" and sometimes missing. Can anyone advise what it may be or the best course of tracing the problem. Its a '99 2.0 petrol estate.

First thing would be to have the error codes checked;)

Could be MAF?

Pipe loose?

Coil pack?

Check all the vacuum pipes as well. Also listen out for the dump valve letting off randomly. It could be that the rubber has perished in the DV diaphragm.

It's a 2.0l petrol no turbo= no DV

Back on topic ......We should know better.

To the OP, you ideally need the car scanned for fault codes. As has been said the MAF sounds like a good place to start looking, you could unplug yours and see if it runs any better. If it does then it's highly likely that your is stuffed.
