Total Skoda Family - Now with Fault Codes - Help

Featured Replies

After my first venture into Skoda-dom a mere four weeks ago with the purchase of an Octavia, my wife too now has a Skoda - a Fabia 1.9SDi

We have always had VW before (Golf for me and Polo for the SWMBO) so this is all new for us, not only as Skoda owners but also as diesel drivers now. I knew where I was with the gasoline internal combustion engine but diesel is all Dutch to me!

The Fabia has thrown up a couple of fault code via Vagcom. I guess they are not too serious as no warning or engine management lights came on during test drive or three hour drive back home after purchase.

They are:

Chassis Type: 6Y - Skoda Fabia

Scan: 01,02,03,08,09,15,17,19,37,44,46,56,69

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Address 01: Engine

Controller: 038 906 012 CE

Component: 1,9l R4 EDC 0000SG 3206

Coding: 00005

Shop #: WSC 13765

TMBNF46Y313185654 SKZ7Z0Y0722730

1 Fault Found:

17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Open or Short to Plus

P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Readiness: N/A

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Address 08: Auto HVAC

Controller: 6Y0 820 045

Component: Klimaanlage X0760

1 Fault Found:

00705 - Relay for Coolant Fan: Stage 1 (J279)

31-00 - Open or Short to Ground

-------------------

End

Two questions:

1/ Any one know the part number for the Coolant Sensor and where it is located.

2/ As above but for the Relay for Coolant Fan.

Does this look like component or wiring failure?

Any help would be most welcome.

TIA

Nick....

Nick I think there is a guide here somewhere for the temp sensor, try the search mate.

The Ross-Tech Wiki is a useful favourite as well, just tap in the fault code in the search box:

Thanks for the advice VRStu, however a search of "SDi temp Sender" throws up little help I'm afraid. Need to know where it is located (i think I know) and a part number if possible. Almost gone blind trying to find it on VAGCAT.COM :(

I came up with this when I typed in 17664 from the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor fault:

I know on the TDi engines the temp sensor is located (if looking at front) to the right hand side of engine below cylinder head and has 4 pin round plug IIRC.
