Hi out there - any suggestions for mods?

Featured Replies

Hi from Kent!

I've got an '05 mk1 Octy vRS and am after some ideas for tuning. It looks like a stage 1 remap will give around 205-210bhp but what could be done along side this to give a little bit more for affordable money?! Will induction or free flow cat (or other) give much benefit? I don't particularly want to make the car especially noisy though as I like the wolf-in-sheeps-clothing thing. It's stock currently.

Look forward to hearing from you!

John

Hello :)

Hi John

Welcome to the forum

Nice car the vRS MK1 Octy

The remap is the one that gives you best BHP gains for the money

The Carbonio is a lovely piece of kit that give it a nice pssstsh

Not too loud either

Will give a bit of BHP gain , but throttle response is better as it is more free flowing air

Yes sports cats and cat back systems will help too

But the remap is one that will give the bigger BHP gains

Then there is suspension mods and also aswell rear anti roll bars that will help with the handling

Have some time on this very helpfull forum for LOTS of information

Use the search button at the top of the page and do some research on the way forward as what you want may not be the same as what everyone else has

But some usefull information at hand

Have fun

Sarah

Welcome mate

Welcome to Briskoda. What part of Kent are you from?

There is a rolling road day in Canterbury next month (see South East Meets section) where you can see what your car is making at the moment for £30 or get a discounted remap.

May be worth thinking about handling and brake mods before power though as the Octy vRS hasn't got amazing handling and if you start to up the power you need to be able to stop properly!

Thanks for the info on the rolling road day - I'm in Folkestone so it's pretty local. I've signed up for it anyway!

Agree with you about handling mods - I ought to get some decent front boots as the (indy) dealer fitted (cheap) new free when I bought it - they aint wearing very quick! Are you suggesting to improve braking grip or cornering handling? Both are better than my old Nissan 100!

With the power what I want to avoid is remapping as it is currently, possibly get hardware changed in future and then find it needs remapping again. Though that may not be a problem? Any advice anyone?!

John

Better for both grip and handling in a corner. I took mine to the Ring in July and while it's better handling than most of the cars I've had before I went out in a friends Civic Type R and it really put the Octy to shame in the twisties!

I think some of these tuning companies will give you a big discount if you get a standard remap then go away and put bits on it and come back asking for a custom remap - but you would have to check that with them.

Custom remap is certainly better if you have already fitted an exhaust, induction kit, TIP etc.

im considering similar from angel tunings know if their any good? 530 quid gets ya remap and BMC induction kit

I've seen their website but don't otherwise know much about them. It looks like they'll go to you to do the work in the listed prices. Any one else used them? If you go ahead I'd be interested to hear how you find it all.
