Featured Replies

Hi guys, got someone coming to see my car later today. Hes driving from norflok to bristol to view it so i take that as a good sign already.

What id like to no is,

Is there anything i need to remember to do/say/make sure when selling/trying to sell a car?

Help would be much aprisated. :)

John

Don't be tempted to take a lesser offer due to the distance he's travelled - you didn't force him to come.

Be honest, but don't gush out with bad points. Make sure they know everything, but if you reel off a list of bad points it'll put people off.

HTH :)

Nice one, cheers mate.

Check he has adequate insurance cover if he is to drive. If not and stopped you will also be charged. Remember his cover may only be 3rd party are you happy with that?

If he's to drive when you get out of the drivers seat to swap over. Switch off the engine and take the keys out with you. Then hand them to him when you are both seated.

If it comes to payment bankers drafts and building society cheques are not fool proof. Wait till cleared before releasing car. If cash carefully check all notes.

Remember you will both want a good deal. There has to be some movement on your part on the price. You should have made room for that in your ad price.

If you take a deposit give a receipt and keep a copy signed by you both with any conditions clearly on it.

Good Luck
