just recently there has been a knoccking/clunking noise on the drivers side when either heavy accelerating or braking anyone else had this problems

Does it do it over bumps too? turning?

I had a similar problem (on the front offside) but it was my wishbone bushes, got the cupra bushes fitted instead, no problems since. Try spraying some wd40 or something on it and see if it goes away for a few days. if it does, I reckon it's probably that.
