Fabia 1.9 SDI intermittant cut out

Featured Replies

I have a Fabia 1.9 SDI. it has started cutting out when I drive. Usually just above 2000 rpm, or when I go around a right hand corner. Not a left hand corner. If I put my foot flat to the floor I am lucky to get 3000 revs with engine losing power and smelly white puffs of smoke coming out of the exhaust, which I assume is unburnt diesel. If I grab the fuel filter and turn it upside down, it runs fine. Could this be a blocked fuel filter, or air in it or water in it? How do I bleed it if it has. Heeelllp any tips are appreciated as it is driving me bonkers.

Try replacing the fuel filter first see if that works.

I tried that and now it wont start. Do these things self bleed or is there something I need to do? Any hepl would be gratefully recieved as I am now car less. :(

did you take the filter out then throw away the fuel left inside....

If you did just put some fresh diesel back in the filter holder.

did you try put the ignition on for 10secs then off and again 2/3 times to prime the filter.
