Temperature warning light?

Featured Replies

Over the last week or two, a few times when I've started my car up, the coolant light on the dash has come on and the car beeps at me.

I noticed that if i turn the car off and start it again, it tends to reset it, but I just wanted to know what I should be checking..?

I looked in the water/coolant tank, and the lid was on, and it was just under max, and there was no sign of any loose pipework or leakage, so im a bit confused as to what it might be causing it to go off..

Any ideas please?

I used to have the same problem while ago.

People were advising me to change the whole coolant pot which includes the sensor.

before doing that i tried to spray a lot of contact cleaner in both sides of coolant pot sensor connections and it never happened again:thumbup:

I know it doesn't sound like a decent fix but in my case it cured it.

Btw. do have a bullterrier? I really like them:)

Cheers

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the advice, i might just try that, and no, dont have a bully, as SWMBO won't allow me to get another dog at the moment (we have an ageing staffy!)

I love them tho, they're so ugly they're cute!

To fix mine I took a large flat bladed screw driver and rubbed it up and down the coolant level sensor (2 wires in expansion tank).

Not sure what was on the surface of them as they looked clean but felt almost gritty. Anyway same symptoms as yours and it cured it. No lights or beeps since and I'm about 7 months on.

Nice one cheers.

If you do need to change the bottle they only cost about a tenner.

And it takes about five min too do.
