If ABS prevents the wheels locking under heavy braking how did it cause your starlet turbo to spin?

Most Startlet turbos didn't have ABS, but to be fair if you stuffed it with ABS not having ABS wouldn't have saved you.

ABS cutting in and you having a spin = Driving too fast or on the brakes too hard for the conditions and running out of talent.

just met up with an old pupil yesterday... he has a pug "quicksilver" (106) all lowered and modded up ect.... he learned in my car (ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL ect) and when I asked if he'd had any near misses, he said "only due to locking up in the rain...."

he wishes he had abs ;)

my old pug 106 didnt have abs either and to be honest that locked up a lot! that was probs scarier than the abs kicking in  plus the wheels were like 100mm thin

i think my car has traction control also which is fun to make kick in when the road is wet or in the snow :D

There is a drain cover near here on a 60mph road and it always used to set off my ABS as it was on the approach to a junction. These days as I am braking for the junction, I just lift off the brakes slightly as I go over the cover, then apply them again. :) Prevents any loss of traction.

I do that on the hairpin of the hardnott pass when my rear wheel lifts up to prevent the abs getting confused ;)
