Few Water injection install pics

Featured Replies

I'm bushed - finished the major part of the install on my Devil's own water/alcohol injection kit.

All that's left is to connect the controller - 3 wires in the glovebox...

Few pics:

Nozzle in a TIG welded threaded bush, SS pipe insulated and wrapped:

The pump with a steel bracket made from the SMIC mounting bracket, bolted where the SMIC used to be:

And the epoxied Devils own connector that I made by dremelling off the bottom of a burnt Headlight washer pump- plugged painlessly into the 5L washer tank:

Hope to prime and run the system tomorrow. Its summat like 45 deg C and near 100% humidity atm...No more work for today...

Awesome work as usual!!!!

Well done Bas.

Goodluck :D

Right this is to cool the air down more before it goes into the cooler right?

How efficiant will it be and will you notice any differance do you think?

And please can you explain in more detail what this mod is going to acheve.

Cheers!

Well done Bas, hope you get the results you are looking for :)

Yet another Fantastic job Bas well done

The most important bit of info possible:

The MAP sensor is also the IAT (air temp) sensor. It has 4 wires. The one you want to tap into is [EDIT] green/dark purple - no 4 (marked on the connector). Got it wrong and had to jack up the car, remove the wheel and re-do. The supplied wire taps are amazing to use...[EDIT] but keep the tap at least an inch away from the connector or it'll break the fine wire

Easier to unlock the connector plug and lift it into the engine bay to work on....

Hope to have some subjective results soon.....

I suspect that the actual factory MAP may be a 2.5 BAR one. I notice that when I set the trigger point for 1.25 BAR, it comes on at an indicated 0.9-1 BAR. (3 BAR controller)

Not a problem at all but may be a source of confusion...

do you get enough pipework to run the lines from a tank in the boot?

15 foot worth.

Had about 4 foot left over after running from OEM tank to where the SMIC was and then up to the upper boost pipe.

nice pipe - pretty thin and tough, about as thick as a battery cable...

Good luck

i plan to put the tank in the boot along with the battery, then ditch the aircon, with the smf wieghing so little it might offset the nose heavyness of the car a littlle, well thats the plan anyway.

top work as allways bas:thumbup:

It helps a bit, but that engine & box weighs a shedload on it's own and there's little you can do about that - from someone who is sans battery, sans aircon, and has light flywheel and carbon bonnet.

every little helps tho:thumbup:

[irish mode] To be sure, to be sure.

I wouldn't have bothered else. :D
