You may be able to. But bear in mind unless its brand new it will have mileage stored in it and you would need to adapt it to the immobilizer with VAG COM.

I have the relative that has done the similar thing to this and has changed the Iu1 919 034 A on !.6 Mk1 AEE engine, for exchange to IU1 919 034 B, but as he got this one from a mail order scarp yard here.

I am not aware of the car that it was coming from, and what type of Octavia model the B type is fitting. (some one here may know an answer for this?) It works fine, and the Lummox is correct that the mileage will be that of the replacement here after ECU is coded by dealer.

relative was having an extra 3,000 miles on replacement, but he was not worrying about this, as his instrument faults were now gone away.

I would be thinking that it is possible for the C here also!

I am thinking that connections on back of panel will be the same here, but I am not having the knowledge to say that this will, accept new progaming on the ECU.

My relative is telling me that the dealer is taking £35 English pounds to do ECU and keys here, and so I think that you should be asking them the question.

Not sure about which instrument panel works with what car but if you get a second hand instrument panel then all you need is vag tacho and this will allow you to retrieve the pin number from the instrument panel and also change the mileage to the same as your existing instrument panel and vag com to then code it in as per the instructions on the ross tech site

I think as long as the rev counter is the same, ie you don't try to put a TDi insert into a Petrol engined car the inserts are quite interchangeable.

As Lummox says you will need the 4 digit SKC for both inserts and I'm assuming if the 1.8T one is used you'll not have that. A skoda dealer can do this for you but you'll obviously have to pay. VAG-Tacho is some software which may recover the SKC from the cluster but it isn't 100%. Might be worth a try though, especially if you can borrow it from somone.

Very interesting, that one is able to use this VAG-Tacho for doing this, but where is the software coming from? Is this one a download on the web?

It is not always 100% you are saying, and so you must have used this one maybe.

If you search here for VAG-Tacho you will find that a few people have it. Once you've done that then google will be your friend.

VAG-Tacho has some limitations with the later inserts.

It requires an interface and software which is not free.
