Newbie With Skoda

Featured Replies

Hello new Skoda Fabia Sliverline 1.2 12V 2003 owner, bought this a a second car for my wife and son, Never though about owning a Skoda until I test driven it along with two VW Polos of same age and price, Ended up with the Skoda as it was lower mileage cleaner and drove just as good if not better than the VW,s But then, I did noticed there practically the same cars sharing the same engines parts etc, However, and this is what has brought me to these forms, the back passenger foot well is damp, and from reading some of the treads I see this is a common fault with faulty door rubbers, I guess I should have checked the flours for damp before buying, But have owned loads of cars in my day and thought this was a thing of the past, leaking cars, only ever had one car do this before (leak) but it was a crappy Volvo back in the early 90s, Just hope I can get this fixed, as it has taken a bit of the shine away from what otherwise is a good wee motor.

Hi and welcome aboard.

There are varous threads on this subject and the fix is fairly easy. Look at VRSTU's site that shows you how to carry out the repair correctly.

as its on my clipboard from the other post:

Its not actually the door rubbers that are normally at fault as you can see in the guide ^^

assuming you mean nearside, it could also be the rear washer connector. The pipe runs over the rear wheel arch, remove the seat base and trim piece that is next to your left elbow and you will see the connector. I reconnected mine and wire locked it, but heat shrink or petrol pipe clips are another remedy, a search will bring up loads.

Hi and thanks for the welcome, got a price from a Skoda dealer to do the job 90 pounds for the two back doors, It looks a easy fix according to the well explained vrs site. So had a go, Can get the tweeter out, and the front part of the door handle, but Dam! if I can get this winder handle off, there's a bit of plastic between it and the panel, I can move it back and fourth, but I don't see anything holding this door winder handle on, It will not pull off ? Its going to cost me if I cant get this removed. Also I have not got to this part but with everything removed (if I can get this winder off that is) does the panel come away easy from the plastic retainers thanks Max
