door handle cable part no.

Featured Replies

lookin for part no. for the door handle, drivers door.

my inside handle became loose the other day, and i couldnt open door from inside. so i took off door trim and i found that the cable from the lock is hanging loose, ie not attached to the door handle. i presume that a hook or something like that attaches to the handle but its nowhere to be found, must have fallen off and out somewhere.

Anyway i presume that this hook etc cannot be gotten on its own and a whole new cable is required. hence im looking for the part no.

the car is a 2000 1.9 tdi estate ambiente

I have a spare cable in my boot, but it is the same as for a mk4 golf, as I collected mine from the local VW place. I'll try and have a look tomorrow and see what the part number is on it (this one I 'collected' from a scrap yard while getting a replacement glass for my front passenger door).

My drivers door one frayed, and ended up with about 2 strands still attaching the hook on the end, but then the cable was too long to be functional.

ya, i can see some of the strands frayed also, thats why i thought a new part incl. cable wud be the thing to go for and not just the hook. much appreciated.

if u get a chance could u take a pic when fitting.

thanks

Mine is already fitted (did it over a year ago....) It just takes a bit of wiggling to attach to the cable to the actual door lock, a bit of trial and error is all that is called for....

Coding coming up shortly.

Ok, the codes I have:

Old one (taken out of the door): 1U0837099 A 0 2 /01 >PVC<

New one (left hand door, Octy, mk1): 1U8370990 06/05 >PE<

I am guessing the final bit is the date code, and the letters indicate the material used in its construction.

The 1U0837099 A is now 1U0837099 C (I think) and is the same for both front doors.

Bowden cable- 1u0 837 099 D

Sorry to revive an old thread guys, but Mbames I was wondering if you had the part # for the Golf MK4 Bowden cable as there is no Skoda dealership in my country. A dodgy mechanic broke my cable some months back and I he gave me a wrong cable as a replacement (too short so I had to use a piece of wire clothes hanger as a makeshift extension).

It's still working but we do have VW dealership so if it's the same length as a MK4 cable, I could probably get one of those.

Cheers,
