Alarm/Imob LED on all the time

Featured Replies

This morning I went to the vRS and the small red LED on the drivers door was doing it's usual "slow pulse" - assume this means alarm/imob is on etc.

Unlocked the car from the fob - double pressing to unlock all doors.

Put items in boot, got into the car and noticed that this LED was now on constantly.

Started up the car, drove into work and then noticed the LED stayed on for the whole drive into work.

Engine off at work, LED still on.

Got out of the car, locked it via the fob and only then did the LED revert to it's "slow pulse".

I've not noticed this LED staying on all the time before.

Have I just missed it - or should that not happen?

If it shouldn't happen, what could the LED staying on all the time indicate?

*Edit*

Although it would appear it is a rare thing, doesn't always happen and there is no known fix except if I notice the light has stayed on I need to lock and unlock my car again :)

Oh well.

I get this but is normal as i get over excited with the remote and the LED stays on but when lock its flashes as normal.

Doesnt the manual say this indicates a fault?

Not sure if this is relevant, but on my Mk1 Octavia RS, the drivers door LED staying on while the car is being driven can be a sign of a fault in the central locking/ convenience unit and/or wiring loom. I had this happen to mine along with other symptoms following later - erratic door locking/ unlocking, electric windows misbehaving. In my case, the unit & loom connection pins had gotten water damaged, and both were replaced.
