VRS Mk1 suspension soft

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have a vrs mk1 and over the last year I have noticed that the suspension has become extremely soft to the point where you can push it down with one fingure (no joke). I have taken it into Skoda as I have a problem with knocking for the steering (steering rack on its way out) and I have the full approved Skoda warranty they have done there checks and have advised that it is within tolerance????? Which has annoyed me some what; also the steering issue they said was the ARB moving from side to side but still the knock persists.

Has anyone had any problems with warranty repairs????

my octavia tdi estate is very similar, driving on some roads around fort william in scotland last weekend, i think i bottomed out on almost every single ditch. Im surprised my undertray is still there!

its well out of warrenty though so im probably going to be looking at uprated dampeners and springs

Mmm

The main problem with ANY after market warranty is that the parts have to be faulty

You cannot do a claim on parts that have worn

The shockers have 40k miles warranty from when new

So anything after that will be put down to fair wear and tear I am afraid

The ARB`s are usually the problem as the plastic parts on the ARB crack , dont know if that will be covered under warranty either :( sorry

Sarah

Hi!

It is well known that Octy mk.1 are a bit underdamped - VRS included.

I did 150' km on my suspension thou, but it never felt as soft as you describe - but definately a little underdamped. ARB-bushes were changed at 60' km.

AwesomeSarah sold me a kit of Koni FSD's, and I am VERY pleased!! That is by the way the general impression from everybody on this forum that have fitted them - as I read it.

You should probably change your springs too. Ask Sarah, and she will offer you a nice kit!:)

Hello Sarah, What would the kit price be for shocks, springs, and fitting.

Cheers

Jason

if you want a quick fix change the anti roll bar bushes and drop links that should stop the movement. shouldn't cost you more than 30 for parts from CAS parts supplier

Hi!

First i have to say that my car is a 1,6i SLX - no vRS.

When I receintly fitted new springs and dampers, I also fitted new bushes (whishbone, dogbone and anti-rollbar (drop-link and console), and rear bushes. SuperPro poly-bushes to be exact. I can highly recommend theese, but there is so many other options.!The result was a chassis that felt completely new - in fact much better than new!

One option I must mention is original VAG-bushes. Audi TT (and maybe Seat Leon) uses solid bushes, and should probably be an improvement over the original voided (?) used on the vRS.

Keep us posted!!
