Felicia 1996 1.3 idling adjustment ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have Skoda Felicia 1996 1.3 and I have problem with very low idling speed after engine warms up. That leads often to stalling etc.

How do I adjust idling in my car ? Or should I just clean carburator etc. ?

Any tips ? Thanks in advance !

Regards,

Mika

Is it definately a carb model?

Mine is a 1996 but is fuel injection on which you cannot adjust the idle.

Maybe try doing the commone things first.

Temperature sensor

Air filter

Plugs

Leads

Oil and filter

etc

The temperature sensor is a common issue and i had to replace mine some time ago.

I am taking it to my mechanic tomorrow morning anyway (fortunately mechanics are quite affordable here in Malta)..I am just curious how difficult such adjustment would be. :)

On most carburetor cars, you'll find the throttle cable pulling on a quadrant, which rests on the end of a bolt or set screw. If you turn that screw gently clockwise, you should see the quadrant moving as if you were pulling on the throttle cable. If the engine is running, you should hear the idle speed rising too.

Be gentle with how far you turn the screw because the difference between slightly too slow (and liable to stalling), and slightly too fast (poorer engine braking and fuel consumption) is often only about 1 turn of the screw.

The foregoing also often applies to single point injection units.
