:( Open garage, get car out of garage, turn engine off, shut garage door from inside, go into house and lock up - 3 minutes in total. Then go back to car which will only reluctantly start at the second attempt with lots of smoke. This happens very frequently when the engine is cold - is this a fault or normal and, if so, do I need to change my house lockup routine? It's an L&K DSG 140bhp pdi.

could be a glowplug issue maybe

Be sure not to touch the throttle when restarting, if I forget then it takes a couple of attempts to fire up.

Many threads on here about 2.0TDi cold and hot start problems.Seems quite common.
