Hi I have searched and can only find how to remove engine covers for VRS & 1.4 Mine is the 1.2 12V there does not seam to be anything to unbolt ? and am not sure if I should give it a good pull in-case I break something any tips or pictures on removing this cover thanks Max.

If you are really concerned about doing as Lummox suggested, then my advice would be to grab it at the front - one hand at each end and kind of rock it up and down (building up force) and eventually it will come up off its fixings - its rubber donuts sort of things being located (pressed down onto) tapered pegs. Once you have got the front up off these pegs, maybe let it back down over them again while you do the same with the rear ones - then grab the cover in the middle and pull it straight up off all the pegs - then look out for any connected pipes, removing them before walking off with the cover/filter. First time round this did not seem to be possible to me - but I had no idea exactly how the cover was secured to the top of the engine - and did not feel the need to break anything.

Two pipes attached. Mine Lhd so if you're facing the car there's one on the right side under the cover. The another one can be seen if the cover is off pegs attached to the middle of engine. You can't miss 'em!
